Simply Missions

Praise the Lord for his mercies these months.

Well, as most of you know, I was home from the end of January to the end of February this year. It had been a few years since I was last in Barbados. It was so nice to meet with everyone- churches, supporters, friends and family. Thank you for the love and support expressed.

After leaving Barbados, I returned to Albania for two months, then I went to Sicily for a few months.

Albania:

Ministry to the poor and with the church continued. To the poor, it is mercy / humanitarian support. This involves the practical meeting of people's physical and emotional needs. Giving food, money, etc where needed. Serving an individual or a family where needed, listening to people as they share their sorrows, struggles, etc., supporting them, and giving godly advice and prayer.

The Church: We have employed the method of home cell groups with families in the church to offer discipleship on a more personal level, as well as to reach unsaved family members with the gospel.

Ministry to the Autistic community: This ministry has had an impact on this community, and we see lives opening to hear the truth about Jesus. Most of them are Muslim, but they are finding hope in the true God, because we are pouring ourselves out to them; they are realising that God has not abandoned them, but loves and cares for them. Please pray for dreams and visions of Jesus and for their salvation.

These are just a few things that had taken place in Albania when I returned there from Barbados.

Sicily:

The Mission to refugees and immigrants in Sicily continues. I have mentioned before, in several Newsletters, what this involves. I would encourage you to return to some of the previous Newsletters.

This June and July I was privileged to join forces with my team, as we held our 3rd English Bible Camp. (4 years ago I ran a Vacation Bible School for a month with the children from the Nigerian church.)

However, this was my first time actually joining this EBC, because the previous times I had been in Albania. It was for 3 weeks, and divided into various age groups. As the name states, it was in the English language, as many Italians, migrants and refugees want to learn English. It was based on the Bible.

The Nigerians and Italians children know about Jesus to some degree, but this camp really was a God encounter for the children from the other faith. Sometimes you could see that they were being challenged, but they and their parents understood that we would share about Jesus. Please pray that there would be fruit from these camps for all the children and their families.

I was told that one year one of the Muslim children got into trouble with his parents for colouring a cross and taking it home. The next year he avoided it. But they still return. Because both the parents and the children appreciate how we serve them willingly, lovingly and joyfully, and most of the time free of cost. They know this not just from the EBC, but from the other courses that we offer them, e.g: After School Help, Art Club, etc.

Other:

What I have noticed personally is that the ministry to Albanians in Sicily has increased. More relationships have been developing and some older ones have been strengthened.

However, I have returned to Albania and will be focusing my time here for now. Two of the reasons are: 1) Cost $. Although I have been serving in both countries with Joy over the years, travel and "setting up" are becoming increasingly costly.

2) To obtain a long-term document. That requires staying in the country for a while. So I am trusting God. He has my past, present and future in his hands. As he directs, I will obey.
